Service Mechanic | Apprentice or Red Seal | Work Truck Shop Aldergrove

The Work Truck West Service Department is searching for a Service Mechanic to join our team of work truck experts. Our Service team is responsible for diagnostic trouble shooting, service, and repairs on work trucks and mounted equipment and generally saving the day for our outstanding customers. Work Truck West believes in hiring great people with a deep devotion to automotive maintenance and harnessing their skills and talents to service and repair mounted work truck equipment, including cranes, compressors, snow and ice gear, and much more. We are looking for an intermediate experienced Automotive Technician, Automotive Mechanic, or Heavy-Duty Mechanic with some Welding and Fabrication experience to join our team of Service Mechanics in our new shop facility in the Fraser Valley in Langley, BC.

Daily Duties:

  • Coordinate with the Product Support Manager by diagnosing units to understand the problem.
  • Create a plan of parts and labor required.
  • Repair/service units according to the plan.

Responsibilities:

  • Electrical and engine troubleshooting and diagnostics
  • Diagnose and repair of all power generation equipment, compressors, and cranes.
  • Perform crane operation and mechanical inspections
  • Demonstrate continuous effort to improve operations, decrease turnaround times, streamline work processes, and work cooperatively to provide quality seamless customer service.

This position may be a great fit for you if you have:

  • Relevant experience in a mechanic repair shop, including troubleshooting and problem-solving abilities
  • Advanced Mechanical aptitude
  • Knowledge and experience with small engine repair (Diesel and Gas)
  • Knowledge and experience with hydraulic compressors and engine-driven compressors, hydraulic equipment, and controls.
  • 12/24-volt electrical installation and troubleshooting experience
  • Valid BC Class 5 driver’s license with a clean driving abstract
  • Ability to lift up to 50 lbs as well as the physical ability to be working in, under, and around the vehicles being worked on.
  • Excitement and passion for working in a supportive team environment.

Experience in each of the following is considered an asset:

  • Completion of recognized trade training program or current enrollment in an apprenticeship trades program – Automotive Mechanics or Heavy-Duty Mechanics
  • Welding and/or fabricating skills
  • Hydraulics and diagnostics skills pertaining to work truck equipment
  • Truck mounted stiff boom and articulating cranes
  • Truck mounted rail gear

This position is full-time permanent and starts asap.

Work hours: Monday to Friday 8:00 am – 4:30 pm with opportunity for overtime.

Materials Handler | Warehouse & Logistics Specialist | 10,000 lb Forklift

work truck west materials handler positionThe Materials Handler is our internal warehouse and logistic specialist. They support the team of truck equipment upfitters and play an integral role in managing the flow of necessary components for our work truck builds. Occasionally, you will be required to and assist the ShearForce Equipment or Work Truck West Product Support Managers with day-to-day tasks related to picking, shipping, and receiving.

Responsibilities:

  • Completely pick parts for upcoming production jobs, notify of part deficiencies to purchaser and production manager, and deliver to jobs upon project change over.
  • Deliver major components such as bodies and cranes to upfit technicians when needed.
  • Receiving and labeling incoming large goods immediately and inspect for damage/deficiencies.
  • Receiving and labeling incoming parts in a timely fashion and inspect for damage/deficiencies.
  • Put away steel and aluminum lengths, and monitoring stock.
  • Organization and safety of the warehouse area.
  • Organization and safety of products in WTW Yard.
  • Identify and implement improvement projects to increase efficiency in all aspects of materials handling.
  • Morning opening : Perform daily pre-use inspection of both stand-up electric forklift and largest forklift.
  • Ensure that the forklifts are ready for operation the following day (electric charging, DI water, diesel filled)
  • Responsible for securing all truck bodies and equipment in yard at end of day. Put largest forklift away for the night.
  • Prepare incoming large goods for washing as required.
  • Assist with movement of vehicles and bodies to and from sub trades shops as needed.

Requirements:

  • 2 years experience in materials management, supply chain logistics, warehouse management, or similar
  • Previous experience using a large forklift, 10,000 lb capacity minimum. Forklift training provided.
  • Lead by example and work professionally in a collaborative team environment.
  • High attention to detail with pride in expedient service.
  • Ability to work quickly within tight schedules and prioritize tasks.
  • Strong written and oral communication skills.
  • Professional, hard working, takes pride in their work and role within the team.
  • Good computer literacy skills.
  • Class 5 driver’s license with a clean driver’s abstract. Class 1 with air brakes is a benefit.
  • Ability to lift up to 50 lbs safely.

Truck Equipment Upfit Technician

We are looking for an experienced Automotive Technician, Automotive Mechanic, or Heavy-Duty Mechanic to join our team of Truck Equipment Upfit Technicians in our new shop facility in the Fraser Valley in Langley, BC.

As a key member of our team of Truck Equipment Upfit Technicians, you would be responsible for the installation of service bodies, dump boxes, flat decks, and associated equipment on medium-duty truck chassis. This includes:

  • Mounting service bodies, dump boxes and flat decks onto truck chassis
  • Installation and wiring of 12-volt electrical systems
  • Fabrication of custom steel and aluminum brackets for mounting components
  • Installation of hydraulic pumps, PTOs, and clutch pumps
  • Installation of under-hood engine components
  • Installation of compressed air systems, waste oil recovery systems, and hydraulic tool systems.

This position may be a great fit for you if you have:

  • Trades training as an Automotive Technician, Millwright, Commercial Transport Mechanic, Heavy Duty Mechanic, or experience with Automotive Fabrication. Red Seal Certification preferred but not required.
  • Your own set of mechanics tools
  • Strong organizational and communication skills (English language)
  • Positive, enthusiastic, and hardworking attitude
  • A valid BC drivers license
